TROANTE Application

TROANTE is a research and development project, oriented to various sectoral vectors applicable to UAV technology, from a dual use perspective, i.e. military and civilian. A project named "Development of UAV Technology For The Use of Joint and Dual Scope (TROANTE)" involving various civilian and military entities.

A partnership between several entities with well-defined objectives:

  • (a) test and operationalise a small/medium-sized AvU system for use not only in the military but also as a civilian;
  • (b) create competences at national level involving a set of entities of recognised competence and reputation to, in collaboration with the FFAA, if concrete initiatives are carried out;
  • (c) develop a road map to take consistent steps towards the certification of UAV systems at national level, not only at the military level, but also civilianly;
  • (d) develop technology and operating know-how with a view to its application in the fields of geography, cartography, hydrography, oceanography and marine environment.

UAV's provide capabilities whose benefits and versatility are recognized and widely disseminated in studies, publications and roadmaps. In Portugal, the potential operators and/or beneficiaries are mainly the three branches of the FFAA, the FFSS (Security Forces and Services) and a number of other public and private entities, especially those related to authority functions, scientific research, topography and photography.

Entities such as Defense in ffaa in military operations such as ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance), Force Protection or Electronic Warfare, in Missions of Public Interest in Search and Rescue Support or even in the Internal Administration, GNR (Republican National Guard), PSP (Public Security Police), SEF (Service of Foreigners and Borders) in the Maintenance of public order, Environmental Protection , Surveillance and Control of the maritime border, Support to Police Operations, Protection of security forces, Security of facilities of sensitive areas, etc.
