Digital Preprocessing Section: DEVELOPED APPs

The Digital Preprocessing Section (SPDig) has the mission of converting all vector information (DGN, CAD format) into raster information (TIFF image file); Manage and maintain automatic prepress processes and plotter printing of all sheets processed by DCSD; Performs the research and analysis of new prepress and color control methodologies in printed sheets; proceeds to the rasterization, treatment and georeferencing of cartography to the cartoteca and to make available to the public and the availability "on request" of cartographic products raster for the satisfaction of specific requests, internal, external, private or public institutions.

In addition, SPDig performs the treatment and georeferencing of Cartography; printing of letters of support to topographic teams; the printing in support of the cartographic process of the Editing Section (SEdi) and Quality Control Section (SCQ); editing final data (graphic, geodata, cartoteca); scans; color evaluation; budgeting of applications; purchase orders; coordinate conversion; format conversion; treatment and printing of old cartography and also all control of the process of exiting military letters.

With the large workflow received daily combined with the urgency of its implementation, it is difficult to ensure the fulfillment of the mission and the various objectives of the section; The budgeting of work, the direct service with customers and the response to the order notes (secondary objectives) take up much of the time that should be invested in the maintenance and development of the exit process (main objective); The amount of order notes received is much higher than SPDig's current working capacity and as such the work is progressively lagging behind.
The short time available, the few human resources and, above all, the demand for requests received daily, forced us to adopt a new strategy in the resolution of all requests with the same dedication and professionalism with which we are accustomed.

In this sense, after analyzing and identifying the tasks and procedures where most of the time was spent, we chose to invest in automating the most time-consuming tasks and procedures. Several applications have been developed that have greatly optimized the work of the section.
